Very cool hotel. Feels casual chic. Cafe lounge area is a great experience giving home away from home vibes. Beautiful decor that’s whimsical and fun to explore. |Rooms are tiny, well designed capsules with smart lighting, extremely comfy bed, cushy down pillows. Shower head is awesome - I do wish the water pressure was stronger…. I think it’s a California thing though to conserve water - I get that :) Last and not least, the employees are extremely friendly and welcoming. I had the pleasure of chatting with Rebekah after a long day at work. Great customer experience. Highly recommend Citizen M - you won’t want to leave.

The hotel is nice, very central. The checkin was smooth, however you should take into consideration that not all rooms have street view like in the pictures, but brick wall/backyard. The manager was kind enough to change it for me when I requested. You can hear the noise from the street, but with earplugs you would be fine. The whole concept, light personalisation is really nice, felt really comfortable. The bed is very comfortable, the shower as well. The towels are nice and clean, no amenity kits tho. Overall it is worth it.

If I could give this place 1000/10, I would. Exceptional stay at this hotel which is ideally situated close to Union Square. The rooms are small but perfectly formed, with a very comfortable bed and pillows, great toiletries provided and a modern feel. An ipad is used to control the blinds, temperature, lights and TV. I don't think I have ever stayed at a cleaner hotel, I just can't speak highly enough of it. I asked for a high floor room and couldn't hear any noise at all, either from our rooms or from the street. This brings me on to the hotel's greatest asset - the staff. They are so friendly and helpful, and they genuinely seem to enjoy working there. Shout out to Lorenzo, Carla and the blond lady whose name I missed, but I had long chats with all of them during my stay and they were all a delight. PS, unrelated tip for any travellers from the UK who may want to watch Premier League matches- there is a bar called McTeague's Saloon as short taxi ride away that shows games, including the 3pm kick offs which is 7am in San Francisco. Coffee and soft drinks offered aswell as the full bar being open.

The hotel is quite central as it’s near the cable car lines. There’s also plenty of cafes and restaurants around which was convenient. The rooms are clean and tidy. They are small rooms but the space is very well thought out and most importantly, functional. The fundamentals like the bedding, shower, noise dampening and lighting were down pat. The highlight, however, was the staff. My initial room’s view outside (which was facing a wall) was probably okay for a couple of nights but I was staying for 5 nights and I much preferred an airier room. Oscar M. in particular was a real star, he changed my room to a higher floor with a much better view of the surroundings. He didn’t hesitate once and was genuinely a kind soul. He also makes an excellent flat white which was much appreciated.

CitizenM was the perfect spot for my trip to a San Francisco conference that was blocks away. The CitizenM was really clean and very modern. The rooms were high tech and efficient in size. Loved staying here! Great security too.

Stayed at CitizenM San Francisco and was pleasantly surprised. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the city and convenient for exploring major attractions. It’s also just a short walk from the Powell Street turnaround, the famous starting point of the Cable Car lines. What really stands out is the hotel’s design. Instead of a traditional hotel lobby, there is a large, stylish communal space with plenty of seating areas, TVs, a bar, and a breakfast area. It feels modern, lively, and thoughtfully designed. The rooms are small, but everything is organized incredibly well. Despite the compact size, we had everything we needed, and the space felt efficient rather than cramped. One small downside was that there was a techno-themed event on the evening we arrived, and the music was quite noticeable. However, the hotel kept its promise and the event ended at 10 PM, so it didn’t affect our stay. Overall, for the price, CitizenM offers excellent value. The only thing some guests might find inconvenient is that the bed is positioned against the wall, so one person has to climb over the other side to get in or out. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it.

My boyfriend and I had a great time at the Citizen M hotel in San Francisco! The hotel itself is different from the usual layout of a brand name hotel, such as a Holiday Inn or a Hilton. The lobby itself is decorative and feels more so like a lounge. It was very modern and they gave us a free drink coupon upon check in which was nice! The room reminded us of a cruise ship, with the bathroom being about the size of one on a ship, and also just the layout itself reminded us of it as well. The room is more so modern as well, with an iPad that can control the temperature, window shades, and even the color of the room lights. I recommend this hotel very much and we’d love to stay here again! Thanks Citizen M hotels!

First time staying with this brand. It is an excellent execution of the micro-hotel concept, ideal for a highly functional, short-term stay. The Room: Highly optimized for sleep, showering, and basic work. Features a large comfortable bed, wall-to-wall window, and excellent shower pressure. Everything (color-changing lighting, blinds, TV) is seamlessly controlled via a room iPad. Note: Understand what a micro-hotel is before booking—there is minimal storage, no microwave, and no in-room coffee. Atmosphere & Facilities: Features a modern, posh nightclub aesthetic (strong "John Wick" vibes). The 3rd-floor lobby serves as the central hub for self-check-in, the bar, and community space. Check-in is smooth once you figure out the ID scanner trick. Staff are cross-trained and efficient; the bar serves a solid, reasonably priced dirty chai. Ground-floor security is alert and highly visible. Location: Prime downtown placement with paid parking immediately next door. Highly walkable for a compressed tourist schedule. I easily walked through Chinatown to the Wharf. Verdict: A perfect, efficient baseline for combining work with quick sightseeing. I would absolutely stay here again. Somehow I did not to get a single pic of the room.
