A lot of good things about Hotel Ikon. This part of town is clean and safe. Staff & owners are very accommodating and friendly. Very good wifi in my room. Huge smart tv. Cheap washing machine and dryer on the ground floor. Small fridge in room. Microwave, kettle, air fryer and ice machine on level 1.5. The kitchen is kept clean. Very comfortable bed and quality bedding. Loads of drawers and cupboard space. Clean room. No weird/gross hotel smells. The window opens. That might not sound important but in a city with lovely weather like SF, I love it. Bath tubs in some rooms. Plenty of hot water. Quiet hallways. Decent central heating. There is a radiator in each room. No carpet in the room. Hotel carpet can be ick. 5 minute walk to Montgomery BART. Food options everywhere within one or two blocks. I would definitely stay again.

Cancelled AirBNB reservation 2 days before stay. I booked months in advance for San Francisco marathon weekend to avoid surge pricing and wound up not able to find a two bed hotel room in the city. Really frustrating.

Rooms do not have A/C in them. Not that the A/C was out. They don’t have any in the whole building. You have to leave the window open to get some kind of air movement. And the street is loud. Very disappointed in that. The rooms kinda have an old smell also. Rooms are pretty clean but would not stay here again.

They are unreliable. I booked my hotel 2 months out before the Bay to Breakers run for a good price. They canceled my reservation a week before the race. I guess only the highest bidders get a room. Now I have to pay a premium for a hotel given the short notice.

I booked months ago and 2 days before trip i got a email that they canceled my stay. I called to ask about it and they said they "Overbooked". Didnt think something like this would ever happen to me but it did, just get a better place instead of this place.

Made a reservation 2 months early. A week before the stay I received an email saying the reservation was cancelled and if I didn't request that to call or email. I wanted something in writing so I emailed but my email said email was not even deliverable to that address. Sent an email to another email listed on the website and received a response saying they overbooked!

BED BUGS!! I stayed here February 12-14 with my friend and we are both covered in bites. I called the hotel and it seemed like they were quick to dismiss me, didn’t even apologize. I asked for a refund for our stay he told me to email the manager Megan and I would hear back from them that day. It’s been three and no response with the email or voicemail I left. I just wanted to warn other travelers about this place because this is not fun to deal with and freak out over the fact of potentially taking it home with you. Update: They finally reached back out to me and issued my full refund for the stay and have apologized.
