Really one of the best experiences in a hotel I have had in a long time. Lovely bedrooms, super comfy beds, excellent service, fantastic amenities and an amazing breakfast. The best buffet I've seen I think! Plus the sauna and steam, pool and gym are all great. It's super close to town. Staff were helpful with whatever we needed. We were actually sad we weren't staying longer. Thank you NH Santiago!

Response from the property

Dear Alice. Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are absolutely delighted to hear that your stay at the NH Collection Santiago was one of the best hotel experiences you have had in a long time. It is fantastic to know that you enjoyed our "super comfy" beds and that our breakfast buffet—which we take great pride in—made such a lasting impression as one of the best you have seen. We are also glad you were able to take full advantage of our wellness facilities, including the pool, sauna, and gym. Our team strives daily to provide helpful and attentive service, and your kind words are the best motivation for all of us. While we are sorry you couldn't stay longer this time, we would be honored to welcome you back for a more extended visit in the near future. Hope you have an extraordinary day, Paloma Ferreiro Guest Relations NH Collection Santiago

We were very disappointed with the breakfast, especially considering the excellent reviews we had read beforehand. In fact, our experience was the complete opposite. The breakfast was extremely disappointing. The skimmed milk had clearly gone bad and tasted sour. On top of that, the service was very poor. I had to wait almost 20 minutes for my fried eggs, and when they finally arrived, they were practically inedible because they were completely soaked in oil, as if they had been served with a liter of oil. No one apologized or acknowledged the poor service. When we brought these issues to the management’s attention, they showed no understanding or concern. As compensation, they offered us a coffee, which we found to be completely unacceptable and honestly quite insulting. This is supposed to be a five-star hotel, and naturally we expected a much higher standard of quality and service. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met in any way. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this hotel. On the contrary, we would strongly advise others against staying here and will certainly do the same with anyone we know.

To be clear this hotel is not luxury 5 star quality. Having said that you're not paying 5 star prices. If expectations are for a 4 star corporate hotel then I think it does a pretty good job at meeting them. The hotel is in a good location for visting Santiago de Compostela - just a 10 minute walk to the cathedral. Parking is also easy. The rooms are a good size but could do with modernising. The outdoor swimming area was pleasant especially when the bar was open and the sun was shining. Having said that the pool was very cold, so it was only just about acceptable when the outside temperature was nearly 30. The inside pool wasn't very nice and the whole sauna and spa area badly needs a refresh. Having to get towels from reception was also inconvenient. The breakfast was a real high point with really good food that included local produce. The staff were also helpful and friendly.|So overall as long as you're aware this is not a luxury 5 star hotel it is pretty good for visiting the town.

The hotel staff was very professional and helped me with my needs throughout my stay. I have no complaints whatsoever. We were able to find our ancestors and drive all over Galicia. Special thanks to Paloma and the front desk staff, who resolved our logistical issues from minute one. Thank you so much.

After walking the Camino, my partner and I were very relieved to have been able to check in over 2hrs early at the NH Collection Santiago de Compostela. Cold water and complimentary small pieces of cake and candy were provided in reception. The hotel is situated approx 10 min walk away from the Cathedral in a beautiful, safe and quiet area. We enjoyed the walk and didn’t mind being away from the hustle and bustle of the old town. Across the road is a park with a pond with ducks and geese which offers a nice place to have a picnic. The highlight of the NH Collection is its service. All of the staff we encountered spoke English and Spanish, and were warm, welcoming and helpful during our stay. We loved that NH also offers a web-based app, which allows guests to request a late check-out, robes, additional amenities, and a range of other services. There are a few quirks to the hotel, most notably that pool towels were to be collected from and returned to reception, rather than in the pool area. Having walked to the pool before realising towels were at reception was inconvenient and we noticed a few other guest were confused too. This would be worth mentioning to guests during check in. Our room on the third floor was clean and spacious, and had a view of the garden and outdoor pool. There were some visible signs of wear, but nothing too concerning. Unfortunately the coffee pod machine in our room did have mould in the water canister which was unable to be flushed out. After reporting via the web app, a staff member promptly came and changed the machine for us however the replacement also had mould in the water canister seals. Both the indoor and outdoor pools could do with a refresh as all of the ladders were not secure, causing them to wabble and squeak when entering/exiting. This was particularly noticeable in the outdoor pool as the tiles where the ladder was screwed into were lifted up and not secure. The tiles above the waterline of the indoor pool appeared to have green scum and there was visible mould on the sealant. The sauna was definitely a “nice to have” but this is in dire need of some maintenance. There is no internal handle to shut the sauna door and when my partner attempted to close it, two wood panels with exposed nails from the door frame fell down. Frankly, this could have been a much more serious accident and we reported this immediately to reception but there didn’t seem to be much concern, nor was an incident report completed. It’s clear that the internal handle was removed at some point and never repaired as the adjacent Turkish spa had the same door with an internal handle. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the NH and would be happy to stay again, but this was not a 5 star hotel as advertised.

I stayed here for 2 nights after walking 5 days of the Camino. The hotel is gorgeous and the pool was a much welcomed treat. Unfortunately the sauna and turkish baths weren't working but that didn't detract from the experience. The room was spacious with comfortable beds and the shower was fantastic. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I didnt have breakfast, but I ate in the restaurant - the food there was a little disappointing. However, I would highly recommend staying here. It's only a 10 min walk to the Cathedral and old town so it's in a great location.

Amazing Hotel, perfect for us after our Camino. Super comfy beds. We lost a hat that was found for us, many thanks for that. Also when arranging a taxi to the Airportz the man on reception came out to the taxi driver to ensure we got our taxi when another group wanted it. Excellent service, very happy. Top marks.
