Response from the property
Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed review and for your excellent rating. We are delighted that the gîte, its spaciousness, cleanliness, calm atmosphere, sense of security, and the panorama all met your expectations. We also sincerely appreciate your kind words about us. We would like to provide some context regarding the concept of an independent gîte, which does indeed differ from a bed and breakfast. A gîte is a self-contained accommodation, designed to offer complete independence, with a fully equipped kitchen and freedom in managing meals and daily consumables. For this reason, we intentionally provide basic essentials upon arrival, but not all consumables for the entire stay. This is standard practice for this type of accommodation, even for short stays. Regarding meals and breakfast, breakfast is offered as part of our bed and breakfast activity but is not included nor available for the gîte, in order to respect this principle of independence. We do, however, appreciate your constructive suggestion. As for the location, the historic center of Sarlat is indeed reachable on foot in about twenty minutes via a pleasant, slightly hilly route. The private parking space allows for very easy access by car, which many guests find particularly convenient. Concerning the surroundings, this is a peaceful yet living rural environment. The presence of the chicken coop below the cottages is part of this authenticity, and we understand that early morning sounds may surprise guests who are sensitive to noise. Finally, regarding the bedding, we would like to provide a few clarifications. Our gîtes opened approximately eight months ago, and all the bedding is new. The bed linen is supplied by a specialist hotel-quality linen provider, meeting professional hospitality standards. As part of our commitment to quality, hygiene, and guest comfort, we have chosen to use hypoallergenic synthetic-filled duvets, which are widely used in professional hospitality settings. This choice allows for frequent high-temperature washing, ensuring optimal hygiene between each stay while limiting the risk of allergies or respiratory sensitivities (mites, feathers, natural down). It is also consistent with the characteristics of the accommodation, which benefits from excellent thermal insulation and reversible air conditioning, making natural down duvets often unsuitable or considered too warm by the majority of guests. Thank you again sincerely for your constructive and respectful feedback. It was a real pleasure welcoming you. Kind regards,
Ross Bray
