My friend and I stayed here for 5 days in early July and the experience was amazing. Rooms were nice and laid out well, bathroom was great, and such a nice pool area + bar. The location was superb and really central without being in the middle of pub street (still quiet/local areas around). There were so many tours led by the hostel and loads of fun activities to join too! However, the standout of the entire trip was the staff. From the bartenders to the reception staff to the reps, everyone was amazing. Everyone was so attentive and helpful, but also so much fun and a joy to be around! Daniel and Valentina did an amazing job of making us and everyone around us feel very welcome and we miss them already!! A big thank you to BaBa and all the reception/cleaning staff as well who went above and beyond. Especially Sayon and Benny!!! They were a big highlight of our trip! I could truly write so much more, probably was the best hostel I’ve stayed in. Thank you so much everyone! I am already planning to come back :) And if you need a TukTuk driver, Mr Long is your guy ❤️

If you’re traveling solo or looking to meet amazing people, stay here! The vibe at Mad Monkey is unreal daily events, awesome staff, two great pools, and a fantastic location within walking distance of Pub Street. The travel desk made organizing my sunrise tour to Angkor Wat so easy. Couldn't have asked for a better stay in Siem Reap!

I stayed at Mad Monkey Siem Reap and honestly had a really fun experience. The vibe is super social and it’s very easy to meet new people, especially if you’re traveling solo. There are daily events, a pool area, and a bar where everyone hangs out, so it never feels boring. The location is great — just a short walk to Pub Street and the night market, which makes it really convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they made the atmosphere even better. The rooms were decent and clean for a backpacker hostel. It can get a little loud at night because it’s a social place, but that’s kind of expected. If you want to party, meet people, and enjoy Siem Reap, this is a good choice. If you’re looking for something super quiet and private, maybe not.Overall, I’d recommend it for solo travelers and anyone who wants a fun hostel experience in Siem Reap.⭐️ 8.5/10

Amazing staff! From the second I walked in to the second I left they went above and beyond to be helpful and kind. The staff was incredible especially Benny. He was so fun and kind. The beds were really big which was a nice surprise. Wish there were hooks in the dorm rooms to hang towels but it’s not like that took away from my experience just a recommendation to take the hostel from a 10/10 to 11/10.

⭐ 1/5 — A hostel that claims to be fun and safe, but my experience was the complete opposite. I stayed with Mad Monkey for more than 20 days between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. I spent money there every day on accommodation, food, drinks, tours and activities, and I had generally enjoyed the social atmosphere. Then came my final night in Phnom Penh. Around 4:00 AM, I was talking with people I had been socialising with earlier that night. A woman asked where I was from. When I said Morocco, she started making extremely offensive generalisations about Moroccans, including saying that Moroccans are rapists. Earlier that same evening, she had actually told me that she loved Morocco and wanted to visit. Later, her attitude completely changed. The situation became confrontational. Then a man I had NEVER met before suddenly became involved. He grabbed and twisted my middle finger and DISLOCATED it. I had to put my own finger back into place. And where was the security that was supposed to keep guests safe? The security staff member present was drinking beers with the same group instead of properly de-escalating the situation. I left because I didn't want the situation to continue. I didn't even sleep in my room. I stayed at the bar in front of the hostel waiting to speak with management because I wanted to report what had happened. Later that morning, I returned to speak with the manager, Adrian, but he was away. I then saw the same man who had injured my finger. I was still in pain, extremely angry and lost my temper. I punched him, and another confrontation happened. I have never denied that I punched him. I am being completely honest about that part. But here is what I find absolutely unbelievable: THE OTHER GUEST INJURED ME FIRST. My finger was dislocated BEFORE the later confrontation. I went to the hospital, had an X-ray, bought medication and paid all of the medical expenses myself because I had no insurance. I complained to Mad Monkey management and provided photographs and medical documentation. Mad Monkey eventually told me that they had reviewed CCTV, spoken with staff and investigated the incident. They confirmed that the security staff member's conduct had been addressed directly by the Hotel Manager and that the incident had been documented internally. But then their final decision was that I was the “primary instigator,” that I violated their policies, that I was blacklisted, and that they would provide ZERO reimbursement or compensation for my injury or medical expenses. Think about that. A guest I had never met grabbed my finger and dislocated it. Their own security staff member was drinking with guests during the incident. Management says the security staff member's conduct was serious enough to be addressed internally. And somehow I'M the primary instigator? I spent more than three weeks supporting this business, and when I was injured, I was treated as the problem and kicked out. This isn't about getting free accommodation or trying to get money from a hostel. I paid my own medical bills. I'm talking about an actual physical injury that I am still dealing with. My advice to other travellers: be very careful about assuming that a party hostel automatically means a safe hostel. When everyone is drinking, boundaries can disappear very quickly, and in my experience the security response was not what I expected from a place that advertises itself as a safe environment for travellers. I have kept the medical documentation, photographs, receipts and correspondence with Mad Monkey regarding the incident. Make your own decision before booking.

Stayed here for almost a week and was one of the best mad monkey expeirences. All the staff where super friendly and helpful and solved every issue. Every night was an event from pub crawls to amazing and unique quizes and bbqs. We made many friends for life and every day felt like being part of a misfit family. There is 2 pools and a big outside area. Rooms are good quality and clean with AC which is a bonus. Overall was a cheap place perfect for backpackers with cheap drinks. Perfect party hostel for siam reap... Would like to give a shoutout to the reps (daniel, hannah, clau) And the staff benny and both the managers who made the whole expeirence perfect.
