The NH Siena, formerly the NH Excelsior, sits in the middle of Siena’s historic center, surrounded by Gothic architecture and pavement cafes, and is a short walk from Siena central station. Piazza del Campo and the green-and-white-striped Duomo are both within a 10-minute stroll, while the Basilica of San Domenico and Stadio Artemio Franchi are reachable by bus or a brief car ride. A bus stop outside the hotel connects to Florence train station. All 129 soundproof rooms come with satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, and minibars, and are decorated in a tasteful style with either carpet or parquet flooring. Upgraded rooms offer more space, with connecting options, extra beds, and balconies or terraces, and those on the upper floors look out over the city. The hotel also has a gym and serves a daily breakfast buffet, with made-to-order hot dishes available on request. For dinner, Al Rastrello, the in-house restaurant, offers Italian and local cuisine every evening. Next door, the NH Siena Bar serves cocktails along with pizza, soups, and salads you can order. Basilica Cateriniana di San Domenico is a 4-minute walk away, Siena Cathedral is 7 minutes on foot, and both Piazza del Campo and the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo are 8 minutes from the hotel, with Facciatone the same distance.

I’m downgrading our visit by one star because my partner found it very hard to get service. We hoped that we’d be able to eat here on the night we arrived, but this wasn’t an option. We enquired about room service and couldn’t get any. Beyond our first night gripes, the room was lively and we had a great view of the stadium and watched some football being played. The hotel was quite noisy at times, but nice and well located. As I said at the start, there were some issues for my partner getting service, both at the bar and assistance at reception. I had quite the reverse experience, they almost fell over themselves to get to me. Now you could say as an outsider maybe it was my partner, but she couldn’t have been nicer, I watched the difference in service with my own eyes. To this day, I don’t know what the issue was. Oh… the lifts were weird too, we could not summon a lift to level 2 unless the lift was the next floor up. All very strange.

Very friendly and helpful service staff. The best can walk only 2 mins to the main Piazza. Bus station to other cities in front of the hotel. 10 mins by car to the train station. The room is clean modern and very nice and convinience to stay with a nice view of Siena city. Quite for rest. Very good value of money place to stay. Nice breakfast.

We had a great stay in June. We booked a room with the duomo view. The view was great, overlooking the football stadium with Siena centre in the background.|The hotel was well located. We took a taxi there from the train station. From the hotel it was an easy 10 minute walk into the centre of Siena. Large supermarket near the hotel. |The room had everything we needed, including, air conditioning, a safe, an excellent hair dryer, a fridge, a coffee machine (could also make tea with it it by not putting a coffee capsule in it) |Breakfast was nice, we are vegan and there were options for us and there was non-dairy milk alternatives.

Comfortable stay with a convenient location close to the city center. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and easy access to Siena’s main attractions made it a great base for exploring the city.

We selected this hotel primarily for it location, opposite the bus station, as we intended to use local buses for day trips. It is an easy ten minute walk from the historic city centre and also reasonably convenient to the rail station.|Apart from a few quibbles, we were pleased. Our room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed, a safe, tea and coffee making and a quality hair dryer. The bathroom suffered from poor water pressure at times, meaning it was occasionally a struggle to flush the toilet.| The area surrounding the hotel is quite noisy, but we found the sound insulation worked well.|Breakfast was good.|Wifi was a little annoying. We had to log in again several times during our four day visit.|There were no power outlets near the bed, which was also annoying!|These issues aside, we enjoyed this hotel and would stay here again.

Pros: First and foremost, the location is great, staff (reception and house keeping)were consistently attentive and professional. Their service made a very positive impression. Clean rooms. Cons: 1. The hot water pressure in the shower was too low to wash my long hair.. 2. A screw from the shower drainage fixture appeared to have come loose and partially popped out, it hurt my toe and raised some concerns regarding safety and maintenance. 3.The curtain in the room had many holes. 4. The expected amenities were not provided, unlike in other hotels of a similar standard. Only got a shower cap. 5.All the lights turned on simultaneously, and no control switch on both lamps. Only way to control was by unplugging ,making it difficult to adjust the lighting comfortably. Lighting similar to IBIS hotel category. 6. Bed was too hard for me, even being from Asia, but this is personal. 7. The tissue holder in the bathroom was not securely fixed and repeatedly fell off during use. The issues encountered were not in line with the standards I would normally expect from a NH hotel.

Good value, doesn’t attempt to be anything it isn’t, just a basic clean and well run hotel within 10 minutes walk of centre. Valet parking very easy option if you have car! Our room over looked the slightly tired football stadium which if your a football fan makes for a lovely backdrop.

I stayed here with my tour group and was very disappointed in this hotel. They provided a decent hairdryer and safe in the room. |I will describe the good points first, that the room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable (but beware as my room was at the front of the hotel, it was quite noisy at night as a bus station was across the street). Breakfast had many choices and was decent. When I told the front desk of my challenges, they did fix everything but some of the receptionists especially the males were not very welcoming.|The hotel lobby smelled every time I entered of some heavy disinfectant or perfume like smell, which was quite annoying and made my nose run, and my peers were having the same issue. The Wi-Fi kept kicking my devices off, and I had to keep signing in with the password. When I arrived in my room, there was no soap next to the sink because both dispensers were labeled and filled with low quality lotion, and the toilet didn’t work well. They did fix the toilet at my request. I found out I was missing two lights and sitting in the dark at night, and the key card intermittently did not work. They did provide me with two more lights at my request and one didn’t work well and the maintenance man had to come back again, and at that point, he knew me quite well. The front desk had to give me a real key in case the key card didn’t work and many others on my tour had the same challenge. The shower door in the bathroom didn’t close well so the water flooded on the floor no matter how I angled the shower head which provided a risk for fall. There was no dresser in the room, no shelves in the closet for clothes and nowhere to put my belongings and I was here for 6 nights.|I would not recommend this hotel, and I will be giving the same feedback to my tour group.
