Beitou Hot Spring Resort

The best time to visit Taipei is from October to April, when temperatures are mild and rain is less frequent. November and December are particularly pleasant, with highs around 20-24°C and fewer rain days than the summer months. May through September is the hottest and rainiest stretch, with frequent afternoon showers and high humidity. For the most comfortable weather, aim for late autumn or early spring.

Stay in Zhongshan District for central access to night markets, shopping, and the metro; it suits first-timers and business travelers. Ximending is a lively pedestrian area popular with younger visitors and those who like street food and shopping. Beitou offers hot springs and a quieter, park-like setting, ideal for relaxation. Daan is a leafy, upscale residential area with cafes and Daan Park, good for families and those wanting a calmer base.

Start at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall for its grand plaza and changing of the guard. Taipei 101 Observatory offers sweeping city views from the iconic tower. Explore Songshan Raohe Night Market for a lively food scene. Yangmingshan National Park is a quick escape to volcanic landscapes and hot springs. Daan Park is a large green space for a relaxing stroll.

You can take full-day tours to Yehliu, Jiufen, and Pingxi, where you can see the sea-eroded rock formations, old streets, and release sky lanterns. Shifen is also a popular stop for its waterfall and railway town charm. A private tour can take you to Taroko Gorge National Park for dramatic marble cliffs and hiking trails. These trips are well-established and easy to book from Taipei.

Plan 3 to 4 days for Taipei. In 3 days, you can see Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Taipei 101 Observatory, Daan Park, and the Songshan Raohe Night Market, plus the Ximending Walking District and The Red House. Add a fourth day for a trip to Yangmingshan National Park or the Taipei Zoo. If you want to take a full-day tour to Yehliu, Jiufen, and Pingxi, or Taroko Gorge, plan an extra day.
