Xon's Valencia

The best time to visit Valencia is from May to June, when temperatures are warm and pleasant, ranging from 24°C to 28°C, with low rainfall. September is also good, with similar warmth and fewer crowds. The hottest months are July and August, with highs around 31°C, while March is the rainiest month, with 11 rain days. For a comfortable balance of weather and sightseeing, aim for late spring or early autumn.

Ciutat Vella suits first-timers, with the cathedral, Central Market, and Torres de Serranos within walking distance. L'Eixample is a central, residential option with easy access to the Turia park and the City of Arts and Sciences. For a beach stay, Poblats Maritims offers the seafront and the Oceanogràfic nearby. Camins al Grau is a quieter, modern area close to the marina and the arts complex.

Start with the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, a futuristic complex that includes the Oceanogràfic, Europe's largest aquarium, and the Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe. The Central Market is a lively, colorful space for local produce and atmosphere. Bioparc offers an immersive zoo experience with open habitats. For history, climb the Torres de Serranos for city views, and visit the Valencia Cathedral, which claims to hold the Holy Grail. Stroll the Jardín del Turia, a long green park built in a former riverbed, for a relaxing break.

You can take a full-day tour to Peniscola, a coastal town with a castle and old town featured in Game of Thrones. Another option is Montanejos, known for its thermal pools and outdoor activities like hiking and rafting. A third tour goes to Chulilla, famous for its hanging bridges and the Turia Canyon. These are the main day trips offered from Valencia.

Plan 3 days to see the main sights: the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, Oceanogràfic, Central Market, Bioparc, and the Jardín del Turia. Add a fourth day for a day trip to Peniscola or the Chulilla hanging bridges. Two days would feel rushed for the city's highlights.
