Good, clean hotel in an old Abbey with old-fashioned Venetian character. The room was small, and the walls are covered with old fabric drapes and antique-style furniture. The bathroom is small and basic. The downstairs bar occupies a chapel-like, monastic hall, retaining much of the building’s old-world religious character and was a great place to sit. The breakfast was good but in a cramped area. The location is fantastic and close to the station, which we needed as we were in Venice for only a day and a half. Getting to and from hotels to transport within Venice can be a challenge, so this location where we did not have to drag suitcases across bridges and cobblestone streets or use porters was great.

Stayed: 9/12 - 9/16 We chose this location due to its walkability from the bus station (we got in around midnight) and were worried that would make the rest of the trip difficult due to its distance from the main attractions, but no regrets. It was quiet, quaint, and perfect for our trip. It's certainly no frills, but for what we paid, it was worth it -- especially with breakfast included! The staff was also friendly and knowledgable. As long as you are okay without the classic canal view, this is an excellent option.

The hotel was located down a quiet alley close to the train station, so you can’t beat the location if you want easy access to the train station (no bridges to cross) or Piazzale Roma (you need to cross Constitution Bridge, which is a big one, but it can be done). The staff are welcoming and helpful with any questions. We were able to store our luggage when we arrived early, and again after check-out, which was very much appreciated. Breakfast was great, with ample selection. I would definitely stay here again if I ever make it back to Venice!

Fabulous little place a stroll from the station down a shaded side street. Beautiful old building with a good lounge to shelter from heat and wait for train. Room was unique with comfy beds, decent aircon and good facilities. Staff are very friendly. Good baggage storage. Breakfast is a real treat with a really unusual selection of high quality ingredients. I could not recommend this little gem more highly.

Lovely continental breakfast. We got an Uber to the airport. The Uber pick up point was at Plaza Roma. The only way to get there was to cross th bridge with our heavy luggages, However luckily we booked a porter from the hotel. It costs 5 euros each bag. Service was amazing thank you.

A great hotel to stay at, located just around the corner from the train station, close to some nice restaurants and shops. |The hotel itself has some amazing staff who are super nice and helpful. Check-in was a piece of cake and breakfast downstairs was a delight. |The rooms are pleasant and well just so unusual that they are fun to stay in. we had room 208 with the master on the top floor and a sofa bed on the lower floor. Plus a second upstairs; everybody was very comfortable. on the same floor as 402; yes, it's that type of place: a former monastery with higgly piggly floors that are some times up stairs some times downstairs, and fun to explore. we had a small fridge in the room. but no coffee set. given the close shops and bars in the area it didnt matter, |you stay for the atmosphere and so much more. you can tell that the staff here genuinely are proud of the place and, as such, interact with guests in a happy and helpful way. And it makes a difference. You should definitely stay here if you're ever in Venice.

Our family had an incredible stay at Hotel Abbazia! Five star level hospitality with attentive, caring staff who went above and beyond to help our children and us feel comfortable. The room was large and perfect for our family of 4 with a king size bed, two twins and a separate room with a couch. There was a beautiful courtyard and the building was also beautiful. Not to mention it was so conveniently located walking distance from the train station and a great place to start to explore Venice. We recommend and will stay again!

Hotel Abbazia is an old-world style hotel on a quiet side street but just off of a bustling and (too) congested street filled with tourist-centered shops and restaurants (including a full supermarket). The hotel is almost adjacent to the Santa Lucia train station, extremely close to a vaporetto stop ("Ferrovia"), and perhaps a 7-minute walk to Piazzale Roma (buses, taxis, and some shopping), but the hotel is somewhat far from the even-more congested tourist areas such as St. Mark's Square. The hotel itself is well kept (although at the time of our visit the garden was unappealing), with a large and comfortable seating area next to the front desk. Guest bedrooms vary greatly in size, so choose carefully. Ours was clean and quiet. The front-desk staff members were knowledgeable and helpful but could have provided greater assistance with luggage. The buffet breakfast (included in the room rate) was fine; the hotel might add more choices for cold cereal (seemed to have only a corn-flake type cereal), a hot cereal (such as oatmeal), and more fresh fruit (such as berries). (And, yes, chicken wings are on the buffet.) Overall, if the neighborhood fits your interest, this hotel would be a reasonable choice.
