I had an exceptional stay at Stadtaffe – Chic Hostel VIE, & it deserves every bit of praise I can offer. From the moment I walked in, the ambience struck me, clean, thoughtfully designed, & carrying that subtle “traveler energy” that makes you feel instantly at home. It’s the kind of space where you can unwind, reset, & still feel connected to the pulse of Vienna. A special mention to Lisa, who was incredibly helpful throughout my stay. Warm, attentive, & genuinely invested in making sure guests feel comfortable - she’s the kind of person who elevates a hostel from good to memorable. Her guidance & kindness made settling in effortless. The hostel itself is exactly what a traveler like me needs: Comfortable, well‑kept dorms. A chic common area that encourages conversations & quiet moments alike. A vibe that balances style with simplicity. A location that makes exploring Vienna easy & enjoyable There’s a certain charm here - a blend of youthful spirit and thoughtful hospitality, that makes Stadtaffe stand out. Whether you’re passing through Vienna for a night or settling in for a longer stay, this hostel gives you the perfect mix of comfort, character, and community. Highly recommended.

Nice enough hostel. Fairly reasonably priced when I was there. Beds were comfortable andn6 bed dorm had plenty of space. Main common area is in the kitchen which can get cramped at times. It can be very awkward trying to manoeuvre around people while holding hot pans. Interactions with staff were minimal as they emailed me a income prior to arrival. It was clean and secure.

4 befrooms female room was calm, quite clean, curtain for privacy are great (my must!). Kitchen is OK too. Good that there are common toilets and Achill Space outside. Cons: bathroom could use some fresh paint :)

They were incredibly kind and understanding. Even though my reservation was non-refundable, they helped me cancel it due to a health issue and kindly provided a refund. I appreciate their support and compassion. Excellent customer service—I hope our paths cross again someday. Thank you!

Outstanding stay—10/10! The rooms, beds, and washrooms were all clean and comfortable. What truly set this place apart was the incredible front desk staff. I accidentally booked my stay for the wrong date (one day in the future), but they accommodated me immediately upon arrival without any hassle. Most hostels wouldn't do that, and it meant a lot to me. Location-wise, it is unbeatable, sitting just 300 meters away from the nearest train station. Compared to other hostels in the area, the price is incredibly low. It is 100% value for money, and I highly recommend it to solo travelers!

Very disappointed with how my situation was handled I booked one night at this hostel through Agoda for a short one-day trip. Shortly after booking, a friend offered to host me, so I contacted the hostel and asked if I could cancel. I explained that I was a student on a very limited budget and even offered to pay a cancellation fee, but they refused to offer a refund, even a partial refund. I therefore did not cancel the booking on Agoda. I continued trying to contact them and asked if there was any possibility of a refund, but unfortunately I did not receive a response to my messages. Then, on the day of my stay, the hostel contacted me saying that they could offer me a 50% refund for my situation. At that point, I realized there had been a misunderstanding - they apparently thought that I had canceled the booking. I called them and explained that I had not canceled and that I was still planning to come, but my flight had been significantly delayed. They understood and agreed that I would still come, just very late. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed by around 2.5 hours, and I arrived at the airport at approximately 1:40 AM. By that time, public transportation from the airport to the city had stopped. I was travelling alone, and as a student on a very limited budget, the taxi fare was simply too expensive for me to afford. I therefore had no realistic way to reach the hostel that night. I decided to stay at the airport until public transportation started again in the morning and then continue with my trip. This was a one-day trip and I had only booked the hostel for one night, so I unfortunately could not make use of the accommodation despite genuinely intending to come. Afterwards, I contacted the hostel again and explained everything, offering to provide the airline's delay notification and proof of my actual landing time. I asked if they could kindly consider even a partial refund, given the circumstances. Unfortunately, they ultimately refused to provide any refund. I completely understand that the hostel has a cancellation policy and that they are a small business. However, I was honestly very sad and disappointed by how this situation was handled. I was not simply choosing not to show up - I had informed them that I was coming, my flight was delayed significantly, and when I finally arrived, public transportation had already stopped and I could not afford a taxi. What disappointed me most was that even after explaining the circumstances and offering to accept a partial refund or cancellation fee, there was no flexibility at all. I hope the hostel can be more understanding of exceptional situations like this in the future, especially when a guest can provide evidence that the circumstances were genuinely outside their control.

I normally never write long reviews but Stadtaffe genuinely deserves one 😭😭 I accidentally booked and paid for a reservation while I was half-looking at the price details on Booking and immediately started panicking afterwards. I’m a student and the money actually mattered a lot to me, so I felt insanely stupid and stressed about it. I contacted the hostel expecting basically nothing, but they were soooo nice about it. They helped me cancel everything super quickly and were really understanding the whole time instead of making me feel worse. And honestly, I’m just incredibly grateful to you guys. At that moment I was genuinely panicking, blaming myself and trying to fix everything while feeling super stressed. But instead of treating me coldly or just following the rules, you were so patient and kind to me the whole time. Being treated with that much understanding and warmth honestly meant a lot more than you probably realize. Maybe for you it was just a small act of help, but for me it really felt like someone saved me from a terrible day. Thank you for being so kind to a stressed and very stupid student 😭 You can tell this place is run by good people. I already knew Stadtaffe had a good location and good prices, but after this I honestly think the staff are the best part of the hostel. They completely turned my day around. Definitely recommending this place to everyone I know, and if I’m back in Vienna someday I’m staying here 😭😭

The hostel left a very positive impression. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, which makes it easy to feel comfortable even if you are traveling alone. The rooms are clean and pleasant. Security is well organized: there are code locks on the doors and lockers where you can safely leave your belongings. I especially liked the beds with curtains - they create a small private space, which is not very common in hostels and makes the stay much more comfortable.
