We had a unit with three mates going to Burt Munro in Feb, The host was amazing after a rough start, most likely on my part. the room was awesome. The location was superb. so close to the center of Wanaka. Was a nice stroll to dinner after being on bikes all day. I will look at booking with Wanaka view motel, the view from our unit was amazing to look at while having a coffee. I would highly recommend staying there. will book there in a heart beat again when there with my wife next time. cheers Steve Riggs.

Wanaka View Motel was conveniently centrally located. |It was well presented, spotlessly clean and well equipped. |The bed was super comfortable. |The car was very close to the unit so it was easy to take our bags in and out. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed as a family (2 adults, 2 kids) in the 3-bedroom chalet — ideal for a group of six. The layout was roomy enough for the four of us and likely perfect for accommodating six comfortably. The full kitchen was a huge bonus: we could prepare meals ourselves which made things far easier and more relaxed than relying on restaurants for every meal. For a family with kids, having that kitchen made everything so much more convenient. The location is absolutely amazing. The chalet has lovely lake and mountain views and is only a short walk from the lakefront, town centre shops, cafes and restaurants. We walked almost everywhere during our stay — and that easy access made for a very relaxed holiday rhythm. One highlight: on a family-bike day around the lake we appreciated how easy it was to return to the motel for quick breaks or “nature-call” stops, thanks to the proximity and convenience. Having a central base like this really made it easier to enjoy the lake and surrounding scenery without having to plan around a car. Overall — great for a family getaway: roomy chalet, useful kitchen, unbeatable location and lovely views. If you want to be close to the lake/town and enjoy self-catering and flexibility, this place works wonderfully.

Best place I’ve stayed at in New Zealand, great location with a short walk to the lake and shops and the only accommodation I’ve been where it’s felt like the people running the place would be happy living in it. Only room for improvement is fly screens to keep the insects out (which I haven’t seen anywhere else either).

BEWARE: The accommodations were mediocre at best, the problem was with Pip who runs the front desk. We believe she is the owner. She is the one that caused all of our issues. When asked who owns the place, she told us she didn't know and couldn't tell us who she works for. We believe she is the owner who decided to cancel our reservation 2 days before we were to arrive claiming the credit card used for the original booking was declined twice by the credit card company. Absolutely untrue. There was no notification from the credit card company about any such events. She then canceled our booking and when we called to clarify, we were told that she would hold the booking. When we arrived the next day we were informed that the rate had "Now gone up" and our $335 rate was now almost $120 more. The room wasn't even worth $335 to begin with and then we were left no choice but to pay the extra fee as this woman, Pip, clearly knew that there was no vacancy anywhere else in Wanaka. When asked multiple times to do the right thing, and credit us back the extra money she extorted from us, she did not. So now the credit company is involved disputing the charge. We are on holiday, first time in New Zealand, and this is the most unhospitable place you could stay at. Everybody else in New Zealand has been beautiful. Not here. Go somewhere else!

A strange experience. Brought back memories of motels in the 80s with paper thin walls, cheap fittings, inaccessible power points, dodgy noisy plumbing, reduced shower water pressure, cramped rooms and see through curtains. But to confuse the tele allowed streaming and there was an air conditioner. Location is good but there are heaps of equally well located places that are cheaper. The lack of the basics like shampoo in a motel charging $NZ300+ for a night is difficult to believe. We've stayed at quite a few motels this trip and this one umfortunately doesn't match up with the others.

We loved our stay at the Wanaka View Motel. The rooms were very clean and updated, filled with everything we needed for our stay. We had a great view of the lake and were close enough to walk to everything we needed! There is a washer/dryer onsite, we were able to use the washer and then hang dry our clothes outside to dry, it was perfect. The owner was beyond kind, she helped us navigate the town and work out how to get to places since we didn't have a car. We definitely want to stay here again if we make it back to New Zealand!

Exceptional service! We originally booked a studio, which didn’t have a view as expected, but the lovely owner upgraded us to a larger room with stunning views. We could look out across the park to the beautiful Lake Wanaka. The motel’s location is perfect—just a short walk to the town center. Pip, the owner, gave us fantastic local tips on places to explore, including a drive to the Blue Pools and a hike up Mt. Iron, both of which were incredible. She also recommended dining at Hook, which we absolutely loved! Thanks so much, Pip! We can’t wait to come back next year.
