The best time to visit Warsaw is from May to September, when days are warm and pleasant, with highs from 19°C to 26°C. June and July are the warmest months, though July sees the most rain. September is especially nice, with fewer rain days and mild temperatures. Winter months are cold and damp, with highs around 3°C to 5°C, so plan for indoor activities then.
Stay in the city center, around the Old Town and the Royal Route, for easy access to the Royal Castle, Royal Baths, and the Palace of Culture and Science. The area suits first-time visitors and those who want to walk everywhere. The nearby districts of Śródmieście and Powiśle are also central and convenient, with a mix of restaurants and river views. The featured hotels Raffles Europejski, InterContinental, and Hotel Bristol are all in the city center, close to the main sights.
Start with the Royal Baths, a vast park with palaces and gardens. The Palace of Culture and Science offers panoramic city views from its terrace. The Royal Castle, rebuilt after wartime destruction, showcases royal chambers and art. The Warsaw Uprising Museum tells the story of the 1944 resistance. Wilanów Palace, a baroque royal residence, is worth the trip south.

Full-day tours from Warsaw go to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp, and to Krakow, Poland's historic royal city. Treblinka, a former death camp, is also a day trip destination. These tours are somber and historically significant, so plan for a full day.
Plan 3 days for Warsaw: one for the Old Town and Royal Castle, one for the Royal Baths and Wilanów Palace, and one for the Palace of Culture and Science and the Warsaw Uprising Museum. If you want to add a day trip to Auschwitz or Treblinka, set aside a fourth day. Two days would feel rushed for the main sights.
