Sollner Weiher
Tucked into the old village core of Solln in Munich's south, the Sollner Weiher is a small, leafy pond that feels like a step back in time. Just about 50 metres long and 17 metres wide, this former firefighting reservoir is now the quiet heart of a preserved historic neighbourhood—and a surprisingly important little nature refuge. It is not a showpiece lake, and that is exactly its charm. Locals come to walk a loop around the water, sit by the bank, and enjoy the village-pond atmosphere that survives amid a fast-urbanising city. A well, a ring of trees and a protected ensemble of old houses make it a pocket of calm within easy reach of central Munich. Beneath its modest surface lives protected wildlife, including endangered species, which is why the pond is carefully managed as a biotope. A short, gentle visit pairs well with a stroll through "old Solln" and the surrounding district's green routes.
