El Patio de la Casa de Las Campanas
Tucked down the Calle Siete Revueltas in Córdoba's old Santiago-San Pedro quarter, the Casa de las Campanas is one of the rare houses in the city where you can still stand inside a genuine Mudejar interior—its polilobulated arches, carved plasterwork and timber ceilings surviving from the medieval centuries—now softened by cascades of geraniums, gitanillas and jasmine. The name recalls the day the building doubled as a small bell foundry; today its patios are kept alive by the Association of Friends of the Cordoban Patios and burst into song during the annual Festival of the Patios. Recognized as a Bien de Interés Cultural (property of cultural interest) and part of the patio tradition that UNESCO inscribed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, this is a place where architecture, horticulture and living flamenco performance overlap. You enter through a whitewashed façade into a large first patio arranged like a garden-and-auditorium, then step through an interlaced Mudejar archway into a smaller, more intimate second patio—the kind that embodies the classic Cordoban courtyard.
