The Titanic Memorial Garden
Tucked into the grounds of Belfast City Hall, the Titanic Memorial Garden is a moving and beautifully designed space that honours every one of the 1,512 people who perished when RMS Titanic sank on 15 April 1912. Opened on the disaster's centenary in 2012, it is the first memorial in the world to record all the victims' names—passengers and crew alike—on a single monument. At its heart stands a haunting Carrara marble sculpture by Sir Thomas Brock, one of Britain's most celebrated Edwardian sculptors, whose allegorical figures of Fate and sea nymphs cradling a drowned sailor have stood watch over Belfast since 1920.
