Carnoustie Beach
Carnoustie Beach is a small, east-facing bay of sand and rock tucked beneath the world-famous Carnoustie Championship Golf Links on Angus's North Sea coast. Just a few minutes' walk from the railway station and town centre, and roughly 10 miles north of Dundee, it pairs an easygoing seaside day out with one of the most storied backdrops in Scottish golf. The beach sits in a shallow bay about 0.7 km long, with sweeping views across the Firth of Tay toward Fife and the Tentsmuir forest. A long, accessible promenade runs the full length of the shore, backed by a playpark, paddling pool and the leisure centre's café and toilets, so it works as a family day out as comfortably as a bracing coastal walk. Visitors come here to paddle and rock-pool, try windsurfing, canoeing or sailing off the boat club, walk the sands toward Buddon Ness, and soak up views of Scurdie Ness lighthouse with a chance of spotting bottlenose dolphins.
