Sipopo
Sipopo is Equatorial Guinea's showpiece resort and conference enclave on the northeastern shore of Bioko Island, about a 25-minute drive from the capital Malabo. Set between tropical rainforest and a long sweep of white sand, it pairs a five-star hotel, an 18-hole golf course and a private beach with the Centre de Conférence de Sipopo, the country's flagship diplomatic venue. Built almost overnight as a purpose-made "city" to host African Union leaders, Sipopo was designed to put Equatorial Guinea on the map as a conference destination. Today it draws a different crowd: beachgoers, golfers, summit delegates and travellers using it as a polished seaside base before exploring the rest of Bioko.
