Nui Po Shan
Nui Po Shan (女婆山) is a 399-metre granite peak on the eastern edge of Sha Tin, set within Ma On Shan Country Park in Hong Kong's New Territories. Though modest in height and close to town, it is one of the district's most photographed hills, loved for an almost surreal scatter of weathered boulders on its slopes and for open summit views framed by Ma On Shan, Shek Nga Shan and Tate's Cairn. Hikers come for a short, punchy climb that rewards effort with stacks of blocky rock, sweeping outlooks over the Shing Mun River and the Sha Tin cityscape, and a sense of wildness that feels far from the high-rises below. There is no official signposted trail to the actual summit, which is part of its appeal: the route is a rugged, medium-difficulty scramble over steep gravel and rock steps, best done on a clear day with a reliable offline map and proper footwear. The whole outing is short — roughly four to six kilometres and two to three hours — making it an ideal half-day escape for locals and visitors based along the Tuen Ma railway line.
