Vale Eco Center ( Teluk Batik, Lumut, Perak )
On the coast at Teluk Batik near Lumut, the Vale Eco Centre is a 715-acre slice of lowland rainforest and shoreline thrown open to the public for free. Set aside by mining giant Vale and run by the ecotourism NGO ECOMY, it preserves a rare coastal forest where jungle meets the sea—home to more than 100 plant species, over 125 bird species (including the great hornbill), and eight species of hard coral just offshore. The draw is the marked forest trails: a gentle coastal route that runs out to Teluk Batik beach and a longer waterfall trek, with a briefing station at the hilltop and again where the path reaches the sand. Visitors register at the reception, follow the signposted loops (allow around two and a half hours), and practise minimum-impact tourism—plastics are banned inside the park. Open every day from 8.30am to 5.30pm and easily combined with a ferry crossing to jungle-clad Pangkor Island, the centre suits families, casual hikers and birdwatchers, especially if you arrive in the cool, active morning hours.
