Fort Pikit
Fort Pikit is a Spanish colonial-era stone fortification perched on a hill overlooking the national highway in what is now Malidegao, Cotabato. Built in 1893, it served successive occupiers—Spanish, American, Japanese, and Filipino military forces—over more than a century of conflict and change in Mindanao. Declared a National Historical Landmark in 2012, it is the first such designation in Cotabato province. The fort's weathered rubble walls and corner towers still stand amid coconut groves and corn fields, offering visitors a rare chance to climb a surviving bastion and survey the landscape that once made this hilltop a strategic military position.
