Wat Prasat
Wat Prasat is a living Thai Buddhist temple set in the old village of Mueang Prasat (Ban Prasat) in Non Sung District, Nakhon Ratchasima—a corner of Isaan where a working wat shares ground with the stones of a Khmer-era sanctuary. The village name itself means roughly 'castle/temple village', and its story reaches back well beyond the modern monastery walls. What gives Wat Prasat its pull is the layer of history beneath and beside it: the Khmer temple known as Ku Ban Prasat, a Bayon-period resting house, an ancient reservoir, and—within easy reach in the same district—one of Thailand's most important prehistoric archaeological sites. It suits travellers who like quiet heritage stops over crowded landmarks, and who enjoy pairing a temple visit with the village's community museum and homestay culture.
