Tepesi Delik Han
On the lonely highway between Aksaray and Nevşehir, where the old Silk Road once threaded through the Anatolian plateau, stands a compact stone hall nicknamed Tepesi Delik Han — "the inn with a hole in its top." The name comes straight from the building itself: at the crossing of its vaulted aisles a domed skylight opens a ring of windows to the sky, flooding the cool interior with light. Officially known as Öresin Han, it is one of Anatolia's earliest Seljuk caravanserais, and a restored, working rest stop on the route to Cappadocia. For centuries caravans rested here free of charge, sheltered from summer heat and winter storms beneath a forest of round arches and barrel vaults. After a painstaking restoration completed in 2010, the han has been reopened to visitors as a café and gift shop set inside an 800-year-old monument — an easy and atmospheric stop whether you are driving to or from Cappadocia.
