Castro Valley Veterans Memorial
Tucked inside the Castro Valley Community Park, the Castro Valley Veterans Memorial is an all-wars tribute built to honor and remember military veterans—past, present and future. Polished granite service stones engraved with veterans' names, a central star set into the pad, a flagpole pedestal inscribed with the town's fallen, donated benches and engraved brick pavers together make a small but moving place of reflection on Quail Avenue. Created through years of effort by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9601 and dedicated on Veterans Day in November 2012, the memorial now anchors the East Bay town's military remembrance calendar. It is open to the public free of charge year-round, wheelchair accessible, and comes alive several times a year for ceremonies that draw veterans, their families and the wider community.
