Eckbeck Campground is a small, primitive state-forest campground tucked along the Baptism River in northeast Minnesota, near Silver Bay and the Lake Superior North Shore. With 30 wooded sites, vault toilets, drinking water, and direct river access, it keeps things simple: a cleared spot, a fire ring, and a picnic table beside moving water. The appeal here is quiet and location. Eckbeck sits inside Finland State Forest, a vast boreal landscape of lakes, bogs, and rock outcrops on the Baptism River, and the campground is pitched as an easygoing alternative to the more crowded state parks along the North Shore. Dogs are welcome, the sites are first come first served, and the river is right at hand.
