Domlyan Reservoir
Domlyan Reservoir is a quiet, scenic retreat nestled in the northern foothills of the Central Sredna Gora mountains in southern Bulgaria. Built in 1964 primarily for irrigation, it has evolved into a beloved destination for nature lovers, anglers, and those seeking a peaceful escape from the crowds. The reservoir is fed by the Svejen River and mountain streams, resulting in clear water that reflects the surrounding forested slopes and the distant peaks of the Balkan Mountains. With a water surface area of approximately 1,600 to 1,680 decares and a maximum depth of around 42 meters, Domlyan offers a vast yet intimate setting for outdoor activities. The landscape is characterized by a mix of open grassy banks on the west and north, and shaded, wooded shores on the east, providing diverse environments for exploration and relaxation.
