I don’t know where to start except to say that Glenburn Coastal Retreat has it all! We stayed in Fyffe – it was perfect for the 2 of us. Large living room/diner, with a stunning view to the snow capped mountains. The bedroom looks out to the ocean so you can lie in bed and take it all in. But wait – there is more. Big bathroom with a great bath that you can relax in and take in the mountain view from a very comfortable position. Double vanity basins and decent lighting. Hurray! Underfloor heating and heated towel rails. Quality bathroom products and, thoughtfully, the shampo is mounted separately from the body wash – so no squinting for those of us whose eyes are not what they once were. The galley kitchen is compact but perfectly formed – Nespresso machine with a milk frother plus a plunger. Two gas hobs, a microwave and a dish draw dishwasher! And decent wine glasses! Plus a washer and dryer. Big back deck with sun lounges and a BBQ. – I could live here! The cottages have been very well designed and offer complete privacy. We had a neighbour in the next cottage and didn’t hear a peep and didn’t see them. Lots to see and do around Kaikoura including the coastal board walk loop which gets you up close and personal with some seals. Drive through town and start at the end of the road, go uphill, walk along the cliff then down a long flight of stairs to a shingle track and walk back to the car park, to complete the loop. It was pretty windy when we did it so watch the weather and take care. Fabulous stay so thank you Moira!

Spectacular and secluded location - sea and mountain views all round. Cottage is stunning - extremely tasteful and luxurious. Best place we have stayed in New Zealand so far. Gorgeous. Didn't want to leave it!

Glenburn Coastal Retreat was easily our favorite stay during nearly a month of traveling around New Zealand. The setting is absolutely incredible—private, peaceful, and beautifully secluded. Out the back of the house you’re treated to stunning mountain views, while the front opens up to sweeping views of the sea that you wake up to each morning. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel relaxed the moment you arrive. The house was also very well equipped for cooking, which made it easy to enjoy meals while taking in the scenery. The BBQ was a great added touch and perfect for evenings outside. We actually had some pretty rainy weather while we were there, but it ended up being the perfect place to spend a full day relaxing and unwinding after being on the road for weeks. Watching the weather roll through while staying warm and comfortable inside made it even more memorable. This place was truly special and is somewhere we would absolutely come back to again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet, scenic retreat.

My wife and I have had the opportunity to travel and experience much of the world. We have enjoyed many unique lodging locations. All advantages considered, Glenburn Costal Retreat is the very best! Think the North Shore of Kauai or Heavenly Hana on Maui. What makes GCR is very best is watching the sunrise from the comfort of a king-sized bed. It is truly a house of glass, with mountain or sea views in each direction. The attention to every detail made us smile and appreciate. Robes, slippers, fluffy towels, complete kitchen, even a washer and dryer. No detail is left unaddressed! Treat yourself!

We spent one day at Glenburn Coastal Retreat as a stop on our honeymoon. An outstanding place, right on the edge of town for excursions yet perfectly immersed in nature, with a double view of both the sea and the mountains. A true oasis of peace and relaxation, the perfect place to unwind. Such a wonderful home that it’s a shame to stay for only one night. Highly recommended

EXCELLENT! The earlier reviews are spot on. Secluded location, a 5 minute drive to the town & activies. Nothing has been missed here. Self cater or into town for meals. Stunning views of the ocean from the front & mountain views from the back. Lie in bed & watch the sea!! First class furnishings even binoculars on hand. On arrival the key is in the door & just leave the key in the door on departure. Richard & Moira thank you for providing such an ideal stay.

We had the most lovely stay at Glenburn and wished we could have stayed longer. The houses are beautiful, built of glass. Our bed faced the sea while our living room/patio/bathroom/bathtub faced the mountains. Absolutely gorgeous to watch the sun rise and set. Space was luxurious and large, with a washing machine which was useful. Owner also kindly upgraded us to the largest house as we were on our honeymoon. Great proximity to the dolphin viewing/swimming tour as well as to town where all the restaurants were. All in all, this was the best accomodations we stayed at during our three weeks honeymoon/roadtrip.

An absolute gem. A fantastic location within walking distance of the beach. If you’re looking for a retreat away from everything this is a perfect place for you. |The accommodation has everything you need, its modern design ensures there’s light and sunshine all day long. During our stay it was a bit chilly so the lounge fire was a very welcome addition. To date, this is our best stay in New Zealand. |One thought for those who prefer to be near to restaurants, the village is quite a drive away from the accommodation. We were happy to have dinner at “home” each night but that might not suit everyone.
