Location was good. The owners were friendly enough. They did upgrade us. The one complaint was the cleanliness. Bathroom needs a good scrub! Needs a update. In saying that for what we payed for one night it fulfilled our requirement. Would I stay again probably not.

We had a booking at this motel made in advance and were planning to come to Kaikoura on a rented car via ferry from Wellington. Unfortunately, the ferry got cancelled the night before our arrival to Sierra beach Motel, and I sent a request for free cancelation. The motel refused via booking. I then sent 2 email with all the evidence of our true intentions, but they totally ignored me. That was very unexpected from a local place, since they all are perfectly aware of the situation with the ferrys. Wouldn't recommend the place.

We have spent one night at the Sierra beach front motel. Brad was lovely, helped me fix something on my car. He’s got a workshop where he builds race cars himself, very interesting talking to him about his passion. The family room was lovely, clean and cosy. Our whole family appreciated the stay, we recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet, simple place to stay in front of the beach. Thanks again Brad

This motel is located on the north-east facing beach that gives spectacular sunrises. A short walk along the esplanade to the West End, full of fancy places to eat. Free wi-fi, sizeable room with comfy bed and places to sit and self-cater; all very clean.

Just across the road from the beach & a short walk to a hotel with a good menu & lovely food. |Room was spacious, clean & very comfortable. Tea, coffee, milk & biscuits there on arrival. |Jo & Brad & staff were very friendly & helpful & we had a great time |We will be back again.

Arrived at the unit mid afternoon. The unit was clean yet very tired looking. Wifi was good yet, not password protected. The TV was quite a distance from the bed so watching TV in bed wasn't really an option. The bed was comfortable.|Water pressure was very bad.|The curtains weren't backed and weren't suitable.|Night light was on until 10.30pm each night, and with the bad curtains, then light shone thru. |Unit is not suitable for elderly or people with disabilities as the unit is about 90 cm off the ground with no steps. You can walk further down and walk past the other units. The fact you can not dry your hair with the towels provided is a tad strange. I don't recommend staying here.

Make sure you double and triple check you have everything before you leave otherwise they will throw it in the bin. We accidentally left a camping pot and spatula behind and called as soon as we realised (same day we checked out) only to be told they wouldn’t courier it as anything left is thrown in the bin. A total lack of respect to guest property to not even call / send a message to say they’ve found something in the room when cleaning instead throw in the rubbish.

Great location opposite the beach. Room was clean and welcoming. The bed was ok. No duvet cover only sheet instead. It felt like the mattress protector need a wash and duvet cover to feel better hygiene. Thank you 😊
