My husband and I recently spent four nights at Chachagua Rainforest hotel for our 15th anniversary. This was our first time staying at a resort and we loved it! We stayed in one of the master bungalows, and they are in a private setting of the property, with beautiful surroundings. A sloth was visible from one of the trees off the back deck! Our package included breakfast, and it was a great start to the day! We are at both restaurants on the property and the food was really good and reasonably priced. We were there in the low season, so it was nice to not have crowded areas, and the weather cooperated for us as well! We took advantage of some of the property's tours, including the complimentary nature walk, the night walk, coffee/chocolate and the cooking class. All were great! We also signed up for the Adventure Tour, which included a guide from the resort that drove us to the Arenal Volcano for a hike, the La Fortuna Waterfall, Hanging Bridges and Ecotermales hot springs. Mario was our guide and it was an amazing day! The guides bring along an amazing monocular so you can see the animals up close and, wow, an amazing experience. The roads to and from San Jose airport to the resort weren't horrible, but we were glad we booked transportation through the resort. The one day we went into La Fortuna central, we took an Uber, which cost around $15, for the 30 minute drive. We appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the abundant knowledge of all of the guides, including Julio, Roberto and Rubén!

We stayed for our 30th anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The service was great and the separate bungalow made it special. We were nestled inside the rainforest with a path to both restaurants and the hot springs. The amorphous restaurant by the hot springs was Pura Vida with plastic chilled beer mugs for soaking in the springs after a chill dinner. We explored LaFortuna and hiked the volcano, waterfall, and hanging bridges so we were ready for a chill evening. Excellent adventure stay!

We stayed here in May 2026. Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and they have adventure tours and rainforest hikes during the day and night. The lodging was clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. It was amazing to go outside and see a sloth in the tree above our lodge. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it friends and family.

Chachagua is an absolute gem. From the minute you enter, you're greeted, helped with luggage and given a warm welcome and tour of the property. We could have spent all of our days here! Our cabin room had a patio with a hammock and the bathroom was huge and awesome w/rainshower. There was an incredible amount of wildlife both day and night. We saw a sloth mom with a baby, many frogs and more. The staff were all so friendly and made us feel at home. The food and drinks were great. There is a water slide going into the creek and another into a pool and it's SO FUN! We had such an amazing stay full of wildlife & hot springs and on top of it all they gave me a special birthday surprise dessert and towel sloth lol. Thanks for making my bday trip of a lifetime Chachagua. I would eagerly return in the future.

Fantastic experience. Excellent staff, delicious breakfast, great coffee. Pools, hot tubs, water slides, all unique and beautiful. Great communication by the hotel and their staff. You are literally staying in the rainforest. Not super crowded, loved the quiet of the rainforest and the peaceful vibes. If you want something off the beaten path that is unique and adventurous, highly recommend, would go again.

We spent 3 nights at Chachagua Rainforest Hotel and Hot Springs Resort. After a long trip, we were greeted warmly by the team, walked to the different amenities and shown our bungalow. The property immerses you in the rainforest so come prepared with warmer water resistant clothing. There was an unusual cold front bringing temps in the 60s, without much sun, for most of our stay. It was uncomfortable but so beautiful. In addition to the property trails, waterfall and 300 year old Ceiba tree, there’s lots of wildlife on property! Agoutis and coatis roam the grounds. Toucans and sloths in the trees. Frogs and toads at night. Do the night walk - we learned a lot! Ask for a renovated bungalow. Ours was not. It didn’t have good light and had a bit of a musty smell to it. That said, it provided beautiful, lush views, morning birds and great privacy. The hot springs definitely helped us warm up! And overlook the more casual of the restaurants (which was still really pretty!). We found the food to be fresh, tasty and with strong flavors. We loved breakfast and would eat lunch off property in La Fortuna, which has many options. (We liked Fortuneno a lot!) Dinner on the property, like others mentioned, is pricey, but driving at night wasn’t for us. The road has limited light and lots of twists/turns as you’d expect. Definitely recommend this place. I’d go back!

This hotel is literally in the rainforrest and has a slide and a river inside itRooms, air conditioning and shower is great. Those images are part of the hotel walk

Absolutely amazing room directly in the rainforest. A balcony in the trees and the rooms spread out so you felt like you were completely private. The rainshower shower was great , the hot springs so relaxing and the staff went out of their way to make you happy. Many thanks to Roberto ,Karen Sharon, Gretchen, Alfonso, Rubin and Roy who provided such a wonderful experience. We cant wait to return. It was a great vacation.
