Highly recommend Hotel Derlon! It is absolutely perfect for solo or independent travelers. The rooms are spotless, and the location is unbeatable—super convenient to the vibrant city center and major sightseeing spots. Even though our English is limited, the staff at the front desk showed incredible patience. Staying in the André Rieu Suite was an absolute dream, complete with a lovely balcony and a jacuzzi. A huge highlight was the restaurant in the basement surrounded by ancient ruins—it felt like stepping back in time! We also had a delicious pan-seared salmon dinner at the hotel. Everyone was so welcoming and always greeted us warmly. We spent a fantastic two days here!

Derlon Hotel has an excellent location right in the city centre, making it very convenient for exploring Maastricht. The staff were also very nice, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. There are, however, a couple of important negatives. The hotel can be quite noisy because of the Basilica bells, which ring every hour even at night. More importantly, the internet/Wi-Fi was very poor and kept cutting out frequently. It was completely unavailable for the first two days of my stay. As I was travelling for business and needed to work from my room as well, the unreliable Wi-Fi was a major inconvenience. Overall, the location and staff were very good, but the internet service really needs to be improved, especially for business travellers.

We recently booked a standard Deluxe room at Derlon. This was our first visit to Maastricht. The horel'a location was great, walking distance from restaurant shopping streets. We also had a breakfast included which is good, fresh products and omelette station in the morning. And with that the good review ends. For a Deluxe the room was quite small, appearing even smaller due to the glass walls separating the bathroom, which was exactly next to the bed. The room needed a thorough deep cleaning but the worst part was the noise coming from the street and restaurants on the square that continued till 2-3am. You could hear a lot of noise and loud music coming from the kitchen of the restaurant across the street, followed by loud discussions and screaming even after the music was off. You couldn't really rest well and by the time you do manage to fall asleep you are woken up by the light coming through the windows. On top of that, the fridge was small and not cold at all. We paid for a 4 star experience but what we got in the end was a 2 star hotel. Safe to say we are not booking Derlon again when visiting Maastricht.

We were with 3, grandmother, mother and granddaughter, Booked the 3 p appartment, but the staff convinced us to take 2 rooms due to the heat. Worked out very well. They offered us 2 rooms at the front (loved it!), airconditioned and almost next to each other. We had a perfect stay, very friendly staff, perfect location and the restaurant was veggy-friendly. Didn't mention the breakfast room, best I've ever seen. You enjoy your breakfast in a Roman ruin! Thank you, see you next year!

On a business trip. The hotel sits on a lovely square and it very central on the Old Town. The reception staff were friendly. The room a little tired but absolutely fine. Breakfast was nice and the breakfasting room had lots of character. We ate in the restaurant one evening. It was fine.

A spontaneous trip to Maastricht with no plans for an overnight stay. We walked along this hotel , and went inside to ask for availability. Friendly staff , we felt immediately welcomed. We were fortunate to get the last room available . The room was clean, comfortable and had the necessary facilities; coffee machine, hot water heater, mini fridge, free WiFi , bath and shower , television, queen size bed and a beautiful view of the square . Thank you Jay for providing the tea choices I asked for. Highly recommend !

We traveled with our 1.5 year child and the apartment was very comfortable - had all the amenities. The location is 10/10. Heart of the city but quite at the same time. Everything is nearby and walkable. The hotel staff was very helpful and available all the time. We had a memorable stay. Highly recommended.

Do not stay at this hotel unless you want to be ripped off. I spent 1 week at the hotel whilst on a training course nearby. I was ask to pay on check in but with no invoice shown. When I questioned why it was more expensive than I was expecting I was told that I had been charged city tax for two people and to return the next morning to ask for a refund. I did and was refunded back on my card. It still seemed too expensive but I shrugged it off. At the end of the week, I checkout and asked for an invoice to which I was told I would get it by email. I did not and had to ask repeatedly by phone and email for the invoice. When I did finally receive it I saw that I had been charged breakfast for two people for the whole week! (No wonder they did not want to show me the invoice) Side note - when I booked, I did not even ask for breakfast for myself, never mind for a non existing extra person. Again, I had to make several phone calls and emails to get them to refund me. When they finally did refund me, they only partially refunded me and they still owe me money! I believe the hotel is under new management. Beware, new management seems to equal mismanagement!
