We had a great experience. The place is clean and nicely decorated. You have a kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and outdoor siting area which is great to sit and talk to other travelers! The hosts were also really friendly. Self Check-In was easy and simple.

Pass for other guesthouses until they fix the place: there is a lack of upkeep. First floor is cold, so stay away in the colder months. That being said the intention and the overall organization is there, it may have worked well a while ago and it only lacks some work.

Location is very good. We liked the free bikes and the garden area was cute. The rooms are okay for the price but tall people may struggle to get into the bed and around the house in general. Additionally, the towels were super small and thin. We struggled with drying our hair properly. All in all good value for the price.

Highly rate this place. Great facilities, capsules are roomy and air conditioned. Self check in process and very quick and easy too. Not far from the station

Good stay at Minka Guesthouse. It's a self check-in guesthouse, by scanning a QR code at your arrival and doing the 3 minute process. You're given your code for your stay to enter the premises seamlessly. Clean showers, toilets and kitchen. Common spaces are a bit small but at least they're there. Big table in the back after the back garden. Good and comfortable beds, AC units on the rooms and good enough space to put your bags and clothes away.

Very nice little hostel! People running it were kind and helpful, many informations about the town are available. The free bikes are not to neglect and the kitchen area is very nice and fun to use. I will come back when I am in Matsumoto again! ‘

Disappointing stay especially considering all the raving reviews. The location is okay, about 10min walk from the train station and near to the main tourist attraction, the castle. The whole place works without staff on site, so there's self check in and that's it. It's an old japanese house, so there's basically zero noise insulation. The general design is okay, even though just two showers and toilets for up to 22 guests might be a bit optimistic. The biggest flaw are the beds though. The mattress is extremely thin, you're basically sleeping on the wooden floor. The pillow is not providing any support for the head, so don't expect a comfortable sleep. Disappointing sadly.

It is a capsule hostel. If you love capsules, you will like it here. But the place is very cramped with not much space for the luggage, or the people. No good place to sit, and no vibe at all.
