Clean rooms, nice amenities and nice communal bath. Conveniently located so you can walk to places like the castle, museum, and restaurants. There are natural spring fountains all over the city, so bring your water bottles and fill them up! Why I gave it only 3 stars- When we arrived and got to our floor, housekeepers had several large bags of used linens and garbage plus piles of linens blocking the doorway! We had to stand there until they cleared the way. When we left the hotel to walk around and have dinner (after 5:30), there were still large piles of used linens in the hallway which was pretty gross. At night, there appeared to be a pachyderm in the room above us as the thumping and bumping went on for several hours.

Comfortable spacious clean room. Location convenient near to Toyama station and walking distance to most attractions. Breakfast is good but do expect queue even when they open at 630am and sits maybe limited depending on the crowd.Would stay again if I drop by Toyama.

I had my doubts about Matsumoto Tourist Hotel with its old building and mixed reviews. However, it ended up being a comfortable four night stay. We had a top floor room with a good view of the city. Although a bit tight for two persons, the mattress was comfortable and it was nice having a fridge and good WiFi. The AC only had three settings (low, medium, and high) but the high setting kept the temperature at a comfortable level. The front always had two or three staff ready to help. As there are only two elevators for couple hundred rooms, there was sometimes a wait to use it but other than that there wasn’t anything that was inconvenient. Water dispensers on every other floor and free nightly popsicles were nice. The baths on the bottom floors were also well kept and a nice way to end each day of sightseeing in the hot weather.|

Good location within walking distance to JR station. Room size is a bit bigger than other standard hotel. Onsen facilities is a plus for us walking all day.Bed is firm and comfortable.Staffs are helpful though English communication is minimal.

The staff here was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the rooms exceeded our expectations. The prices were quite reasonable, considering it was still the tail-end of Golden Week. Would absolutely stay here again the next time I come through Matsumoto.

This was by far the best hotel we've stayed in during our roundtrip in Japan (while definitely not the most expensive one!) We got a room in the new 'green tea' building. The room was modern, new, cozy and spacious, we felt very comfortable. We've enjoyed the Onsen, the breakfast buffet, and the possibility to use bikes. The staff was also very kind and helpful. The hotel is at a comfortable walking distance from the station, matsumoto castle and restaurants. Would definitely recommend!

Just needed a place to stay overnight, and this was a good spot. Only a 10 minute walk from the station. Room was clean and quiet.

Stayed in the green tea - themed room and it was so lovely - clean, pretty, and quiet. There was also a matcha session when we arrived and we got to enjoy a cup of matcha with cake. The staff were very helpful and polite. Onsen was also great and well-equipped. I will be staying here the next time i return.
