The hotel is very clean and located at the center of Matsumoto town. It’s right by the Nawate shopping street, only 350 meters away. The customer service was excellent. I felt very welcome and had a good to time. My room was pretty big and clean. I could see the sunset and city view from my room which was nice. There’s a private parking at the hotel. We paid ¥1,200 for a night. We parked at the hotel and walked to the shopping street. There’s a river along the walk that you could enjoy the view of the river with a background of mountains. It’s also cafe on the first floor where you can have buffet breakfast. I’d recommend if you come with a family of a baby, you should get a bigger room with a futon bed and non smoking. The price was affordable.

We stayed for one night on April 6, 2026. We were warmly greeted by the General Manager, Mr Jun Mukai upon our arrival. Mr Mukai was very polite, served with warm smiles to address our questions during the check-in process. The staff in the hotel are very well trained - our luggages were delivered directly to our room without us asking for this service. We will not hesitate to recommend Richmond Hotel Matsumoto : Location - a very pleasant 5-min walk from Matsumoto station on a street with many restaurants. The hotel is also close to many attractions such as the famous Matsumoto Castle, Matsumoto Timepiece Museum, Nakamichi District and a canal with cherry blossom trees - all within a short walking distance from the hotel Room - very comfortable size, very clean, good room layout with a table which is useful for laptop work We enjoyed our stay in Matsumoto and Richmond Hotel very much - thanks to the professionalism of the General Manager Mr Mukai and his well-trained staff.

Japanese hotels never disappoint. This room came with one double bed and a sofa bed — more than enough space for 3 people to fully open our luggage comfortably. Toiletries were freely available at the lobby, and the small table in the room was perfect for us to enjoy a few drinks together at night. Love it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Richmond hotel. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, which made check in and check out quick and easy. Luggage storage was very convenient and allowed us to explore Matsumoto for a few more hours after check out. We would definitely stay again!

Check-in was pretty fast and the room was spacious. The room didn't look as old as I expected! The hotel is within walking distance of both the bus and train stations, and it sits in between the bus station and Matsumoto Castle. There are many restaurants nearby, and a Lawson and 7-Eleven are located just behind the hotel. I was very happy with my stay and will definitely stay here again in the future.

The location of this hotel is perfect with many good restaurants nearby. The reception has two staff who could speak English sufficiently to answer my questions about travelling to Komikochi. Everything about the service was great except for the house keeping who did not make up the room properly. They just left the stack of new towels on the bed and took the soiled ones. The stay came with buffet breakfast which had both western and Japanese food options. I will return to stay if I visit this area again.

Loved our stay. Large rooms and bathroom. Lovely modern decor. Superb location. Would recommend as good solid hotel. Great lighting, air con and quiet rooms. Washing machines excellent too

We had a very enjoyable stay at Richmond Hotel Matsumoto and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. We especially appreciated being allowed an early check-in, which made a big difference after travelling and immediately created a positive first impression. The hotel itself was smartly designed, with comfortable rooms, good facilities, and a very practical layout. The amenities selection was also excellent, offering plenty of thoughtful options that added to the comfort of the stay. Location-wise, the hotel was ideal. Most attractions and destinations around Matsumoto were easily reachable on foot, making it very convenient for sightseeing, dining, and exploring the city. Overall, this was a very well-managed hotel that delivered great comfort, convenience, and hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Matsumoto.
