AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Little Beaver Lake is a small, quiet prairie lake about 35 km south of Camrose and roughly 107 km south of Edmonton, set beside the hamlet of Ferintosh in the Battle River watershed. Shallow and ringed by forested rolling hills and farmland, it draws paddlers, anglers and walkers who want a low-key day close to home rather than a long drive to a resort destination.↗↗
The draw here is its easy access and gentle pace: a campground boat launch on the east shore lets you put in a canoe or kayak without complicated shuttles, an informal trail loops the shoreline, and northern pike make it a modest fishing stop. Its green, algae-rich summer water is better suited to paddling than swimming, and the surrounding hills and wetlands give it a distinctly natural feel for a lake so close to farmland.↗↗↗
