AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Tucked inside Berlin's Zoologischer Garten, the World of Birds (Welt der Vögel) brings an astonishing variety of feathered life together under one roof. From macaws and mynas to the famous nocturnal kiwi, the house is organized as a tour through the continents, pairing striking displays with hands-on stations that explain how birds really work.↗↗
This is not a passive row of cages. You can match birds to their beaks on the spinning beak wheel, trace migration routes on big flight maps, peek into bird anatomy, and step into two free-flight halls where the residents glide and flit through planted habitat all around you. The neighbouring Pheasantry rounds out a visit that feels like a journey across the planet's birdlife.↗

A tour through the feathered world
The house is laid out as a walk through different continents, so each cluster of aviaries introduces you to birds from another part of the world—European songbirds alongside colourful overseas species. The official framing is a "Rundflug" (a round flight) through the bird world, and the logic of the route is discovery: you keep meeting new shapes, colours and calls as you move.
