AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Cim de la Safor is the summit of a limestone massif that straddles the border between the provinces of Valencia and Alicante, rising to 1,013 metres just above the cherry-growing villages of the Vall de Gallinera. It is a serious, rewarding day hike rather than a walk-up viewpoint: a rocky, steep peak wrapped in holm-oak forest and fragrant maquis, with a 360-degree panorama that reaches the Mediterranean on one side and the mountain walls of the interior on the other.↗↗↗
Climbers come for the abrupt, rocky cirque that gives the range its character, for the old snow well and natural rock arch encountered near the top, and for the view — sea, the orange groves of the Serpis lowlands and, on clear days, the silhouette of Ibiza on the horizon. Multiple signposted and semi-signposted routes lead up from the Vall de Gallinera side and from the village of L'Orxa, making it a classic among Valencian and Alicante walkers.↗↗↗
