AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Batuda Beach is a tiny, undeveloped cove tucked between forested headlands on the Barbanza coast of Galicia, just a 10-to-15-minute walk from the Camping Punta Batuda area near Porto do Son. With barely fifty metres of white sand ringed by cliffs and mixed woodland, it offers the kind of Atlantic solitude that most Galician beaches have long lost to development.↗↗
The cove faces the broad Ría de Muros y Noia, with panoramic views toward Monte Louro across the water. It is a favourite escape for visitors to the nearby campground and the fishing village of Portosín who want a swim or a quiet afternoon without crowds — even in July, the beach stays almost empty.↗↗
A Hidden Cove on the Barbanza Coast
Praia Batuda — also known locally as Cala de Punta Batuda — sits on the southwestern shore of the Barbanza peninsula, in the municipality of Porto do Son. The municipality occupies the northwestern side of this rugged, mountainous landmass where the Atlantic meets the Ría de Muros y Noia to the north and the Ría de Arousa to the south. The terrain drops sharply from the Serra do Barbanza to a narrow coastal strip that rarely exceeds two kilometres in width, and Batuda is one of many small coves tucked into this dramatic shoreline.
