A Lake Born of the Mountains
Set in a high cirque above the Belleville valley in the Tarentaise region of Savoie, Lac du Lou is the valley's largest natural lake. At roughly 2,035 metres, it sits in what local tourism describes as a "preserved hollow" — a wild, uncrowded basin ringed by rugged summits. The water is clear enough to see the bottom near its shore, and a small pebbly beach at one end lets hikers dip their feet in the cold alpine melt.↗↗↗
