AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Gortan Cove (Gortanova Uvala) is a small pebble beach on Pula's Lungomare promenade, renowned for its crystal-clear blue water, gentle entry into the sea, and the shade of a pine forest that reaches right down to the shore. It is widely considered the most popular swimming spot in Pula and a favorite among families with young children.↗↗↗
The cove's compact pebble strip, tiered rocky plateaus, and nearby beach bar make it easy to spend half a day here without needing to plan much beyond a towel and a pair of water shoes for the rocks.↗↗
A Pebble Gem on the Lungomare
Gortan Cove sits along the Lungomare, Pula's four-kilometre coastal promenade that links the Valkane bathing area with Valsaline. Where most of the Lungomare is a rocky shoreline better suited to confident swimmers, this cove offers something rarer — a genuinely gentle pebble beach that slopes softly into the Adriatic. A pine forest closes in right behind the shore, providing natural shade that softens even the hottest summer afternoons.
