AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Set on a rocky outcrop called Hanumadgiri in the Kapuwada quarter of Hanamkonda, the Sri Hanumadgiri (Guha) Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is a small, atmospheric Vaishnava shrine best known for keeping its main deity inside a natural cave. 'Guha' means cave, and at this temple the word is the whole point: to see the self-manifested (swayambhu) form of Lord Narasimha, the lion-man avatar of Vishnu, devotees step down into the rock itself.↗↗↗
Locals trace the shrine to the Kakatiya era, more than a thousand years ago, and treat it as a place of genuine power rather than a tourist attraction. It sits close to the waters of the Bhadrakali tank and within easy reach of Hanamkonda and Warangal's better-known landmarks, yet remains one of the quietest and least-visited sanctuaries in the twin city.↗↗
