AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Tucked behind the bustle of Nizamuddin Railway Station, Triguneshwar Mahadev Mandir is a small Shiva temple whose walls echo with two centuries of devotion — and whose courtyard pulses with the rhythm of one of India's most storied Ayurvedic healing traditions.↗↗
Locals revere this temple not only as a sacred space for Lord Shiva worship but as a living continuation of the legacy of Vaidya Brihaspati Dev Triguna, the Padma Vibhushan–honoured physician to India's Presidents, whose descendants still treat thousands of patients here using ancient pulse diagnosis.↗↗

A Temple Born from the Ganga
Legend holds that the sacred Shivling enshrined here was discovered by a sage named Triguneshwar Ji. While bathing in the Ganga, he heard a voice calling out: "Take me along with you." When he turned toward the sound, no one was there — but he found a Shiva lingam in the riverbed and carried it to this spot in Sarai Kale Khan, where it has been worshipped ever since.
