AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Thrivikramapuram Sri Krishna Temple is a quiet village shrine in the Thrissur district of Kerala, notable for housing two separate murtis (sacred images) of Lord Krishna, each enshrined in its own sanctum. Set at Kochukadavu near Kakkulissery on the Mala–Aluva road, this small temple is a place where local devotion and old tradition remain closely intertwined.↗
Unlike the great pilgrim temples of Kerala, Thrivikramapuram is a community-managed shrine whose atmosphere is defined by intimacy and the rhythms of village worship. The east-facing deity and the temple's connection to three old Kerala households give it a layered history that rewards curious visitors.↗
Two Krishnas, Two Sanctums
The defining feature of Thrivikramapuram is that it holds two distinct images of Sri Krishna, each worshipped in a separate sreekovil — the innermost sanctum sanctorum found in Kerala temple architecture. This dual-shrine arrangement is uncommon and gives the temple a distinctive ritual character, as the two forms receive their own daily offerings and observances.↗
