AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Sri Bhairav Mandir is a small, long-standing Hindu temple in the heart of Khargone, a town in western Madhya Pradesh known for its deep devotion to Kala Bhairav. Set on Vitthal Mandir Path in the old Brahmanpuri Mohalla quarter, this shrine is remembered by local visitors as a prachin (ancient) temple where the daily rhythm of worship has continued for generations.↗↗
Dedicated to Bhairav—a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva revered as a protector and remover of fear—the temple is part of the dense sacred fabric of Khargone's town center, where multiple shrines line narrow lanes within easy walking distance of one another.↗↗
A Neighborhood Shrine with Local Roots
Sri Bhairav Mandir sits on Vitthal Mandir Path, a short lane in the D R P Line area of Brahmanpuri Mohalla—one of Khargone's older residential quarters. The path itself is named for the Vitthal Mandir just a few dozen metres away, a reminder of how densely clustered small shrines are in this part of town. A visitor review describes the Bhairav Mandir as a prachin mandir (ancient temple), and the language of childhood memories connected to the Vitthal temple next door suggests this stretch of lane has been a devotional landmark for generations.
