AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Hanuman Mandir is one of Nagaon's best-known places of worship, a working Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman set in the heart of Haibargaon, the old township that grew up around the modern city of Nagaon in Assam. Devotees regard it as among the oldest temples in the district, and its warm reputation shows in steady visitor numbers and a generous 4.5-star rating from hundreds of reviews.↗↗
It is not a grand tourist monument but a living neighbourhood shrine—clean, sizeable and full of devotional activity—where locals come for morning and evening darshan. For a traveller already in Nagaon, it offers an easy, authentic glimpse into everyday Assamese Hindu worship, surrounded by a tight cluster of other temples worth a short walk.↗↗

A temple at the centre of old Nagaon
The temple stands on Shani Mandir Road in Haibargaon, in the busy old quarter of Nagaon, a town on the banks of the Kopili in central Assam. It is devoted to Hanuman—the mighty, devoted monkey-god of the Ramayana, affectionately called Bajrangbal by his worshippers—and the chanting and the cry of "Jai Bajrangbal" give the place its devotional pulse.
