AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Hirakata Park, affectionately called “Hirapa,” is a hillside amusement park in Hirakata, Osaka, with more than a century of history. Opened in 1910 and still beloved by Kansai families, it mixes retro park charm with modern attractions: wooden and steel coasters, a large indoor aquarium, seasonal pools, gardens, ice and snow play in winter, and evening light displays.↗↗↗↗
The park works well as a relaxed day trip between Osaka and Kyoto. You can ride big coasters such as Red Falcon and the wooden coaster Elf, cool off on Troll Panic Pachanga, drift through themed areas with young children, or visit the aquarium Planet Aqua Port, which showcases around 5,000 creatures across 200 species.↗↗
A useful way to plan is to match the season to what the park offers: cherry blossoms and roses in spring, pools and water rides in summer, illuminations and evening events in autumn and winter, and skating or snow play during colder months. Opening hours, ride availability, and evening schedules can change, so checking the official calendar before you go is wise.
