AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Mulbit Bridge (물빛다리, "Water-Light Bridge") is a slender 370-metre pedestrian suspension bridge that flings itself across the narrow waist of Eunpa Lake in southern Gunsan. Opened in 2006 and billed as South Korea's only footbridge of its suspension type, it is the postcard centrepiece of Eunpa Lake Park and the single best-reasoned stop on a Gunsan visit: an easy, free, riverside-to-lakeside stroll that comes alive after dark, when its cables and deck glow in slowly shifting colours and the still water doubles the whole display.↗↗↗
This is where the modern city comes to walk, not a historic harbour, so the draw is calm and local: families on the deck, joggers on the lakeside path, couples lingering under the bridge lights. It pairs perfectly with a day among Gunsan's colonial-era old-town streets and makes a relaxed, low-effort finale in the evening.↗
Crossing the Silver Waves
The lake's name, Eunpa (은파), means "silver waves," and on a bright afternoon the description earns itself: sunlight breaks up across a broad, placid surface ringed by low rounded hills. The park grew out of the old Mije farm reservoir—a body of water so established that it appears on 16th-century geographies of the region—and was designated a national tourism site in 1985 before being wrapped into today's parkland.
