AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Tasik Kelana is one of the calm, leaf-ringed lakes at the centre of Taman Bandaran Kelana Jaya, the largest and best-known park in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Set in the SS7 neighbourhood right beside the busy Kelana Jaya motorway, the green space spreads across a cluster of lakes threaded by jogging tracks and shaded paths—an easy, free escape where the traffic hum fades and the water catches the sky.↗↗↗
Locals come here to walk, run, cycle and simply sit and watch the fish glide under the surface. The lakes are a small but living ecosystem—home to fish, turtles, monitor lizards and, by some accounts, otters—while open lawns and old Commonwealth-era buildings add a touch of history to a simple afternoon outdoors.↗↗
A Green Lung in the Middle of Petaling Jaya
What makes Tasik Kelana special is its scale and its surprise. Petaling Jaya is a dense, traffic-heavy suburb of Kuala Lumpur, yet this corner of SS7 opens into a park that the city council itself calls the largest and one of the most well known in Petaling Jaya. The defining feature is the water: seven lakes scattered across a wide area, each ringed by its own stretch of greenery and path. Stepping in from the road, the urban rush seems to drop away almost at once, replaced by breeze through the trees and the quiet movement of birds and fish on the surface.
