AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Ormoc City Lighthouse is a small seaside landmark standing on the city's bayfront promenade along San Pedro Street, right beside a waterfront food park on the shore of Ormoc Bay. Rather than a place you tour in isolation, it works as the visual anchor of Ormoc's leisurely seafront, where locals stroll, jog and gather at dusk.↗
What draws people here is the setting more than the tower: open views across the bay, an easy walk that links to the Bayfront Walking Plaza, and a cluster of food stalls and cafes that come alive in the evening. The combination of sunset, sea air and street food makes it a favorite low-key hangout for families and couples in Ormoc City proper.↗↗
It is free to visit and a short walk from the Ormoc port and terminal, so it is an effortless first or last stop whether you have just arrived by ferry from Cebu or are killing an evening in the city. Plan on 20 minutes to an hour, ideally around late afternoon and after.↗
On the Ormoc bayfront
Ormoc sits at the head of Ormoc Bay on the western coast of Leyte, and the city has shaped its identity around that water. The lighthouse marks the edge of the port-side waterfront, where a paved baywalk runs along the shore. This is the part of town where the working port hands over to public open space, and where the city meets the sea.
