Tapptjärnen
Tapptjärnen is a small forest tarn (a 'tjärn') tucked in the woodland-lake country around Värmskog, in Arvika Municipality in the heart of Värmland, western Sweden. It is the kind of quiet, intimate sheet of water that gives this province its reputation for stillness, mirror-calm surfaces and forest that runs right down to the shoreline. This is not a developed attraction with signs, facilities or a visitor centre — it is a natural feature best appreciated as part of a slow day of walking, swimming or simply sitting by the water in the surrounding Värmland forests. Its appeal is exactly its modesty: a peaceful tarn away from the busier, better-known lakes of the region.
