Östbytjärnen, Ångermanland
Östbytjärnen is a small, forest-ringed lake (tjärn) tucked into the Ramvik–Högsjö countryside of Ångermanland, on Sweden's High Coast (Höga Kusten). Roughly eight hectares of water sitting about 56.5 metres above sea level, with a maximum depth near 10 metres, it is the kind of quiet inland pool most visitors to this dramatic coastline drive straight past — yet for a certain kind of traveler it is a genuine destination. What gives this unassuming tjärn its pull is fishing. It is managed as the put-and-take char water of the Högsjö Sports Fishing Association (Högsjö SFF), stocked with Arctic char and sometimes brown trout, so a calm hour on its banks can genuinely produce fish. This is not a beach, a park or a viewpoint; it is a low-key shore-fishing pool, and that honesty is part of its charm.
