Bedenski Bani
Bedenski Bani is a hyperthermal mineral spring in the heart of Bulgaria's central Rhodope Mountains, where water that emerges at well over 70°C is piped straight into modest pools set in a river valley some ten-odd kilometres east of the town of Devin. It is not a polished spa resort but a genuine local bathing spot, prized for the healing quality of its water and the high-mountain air that surrounds it. Visitors come here to soak aching joints and tired backs in the mineral-rich water, then wander a region packed with caves and old Rhodope villages. The experience is simple and unpretentious: a small public bath at the spring itself, and a newer guesthouse with an indoor mineral pool and an outdoor hot tub that looks out over the peaks.
